Day 11 Day off - Ride to Trollstigen

This is going to be an epic day out - we're looking at the Trollstigen road and then down to to Dibs-Nibbler, as we call it. We will then get a ferry down this famous Fjord from Garinger back to home for the night.
There were frozen mountain lakes, tunnels galore, twisties and very steep roads, just to get to Trollstigen, let alone go over it and back again. What a fantastic road to ride.

We were very high and the tops of the mountains and sides of the roads were still covered in snow - the roads appeared to have only opened a week or so before. It was truly amazing. This is a lake that is still frozen over, sitting at the base of Dibs-Nibbler, so we still had another 1,000 feet to climb.

You get get no perspective of how high this is or how sheer the roads are and also how tight the hairpin bends are - you can't capture them on the phones' camera. It's a real shame - If you read previous blogs, we always say "this is the hardest road we've ridden" but on this occasion, we can say without doubt, we have never ridden any roads as difficult as getting up to Dibs-nibbler. I think we rose 1,000 feet in less than a mile - or that's how it felt. Thank goodness for the amount of experience we have riding, as novices would be in so much trouble.

Rewarding you at the top are the most spectacular views and there is a view point that goes out over a cliff edge - it has a steel cross-hatched floor so you can see right through it. The barrier is low and it's very scary to look over the edge!!
This view is down the Fjjord to Garinger, where the cruise ships go and where we'll be getting our ferry later. The peaked mountain in the distance is Dibs-nibbler that we mentioned earlier in this blog - yep we road all the way to the top and down again.
An hour for some downtime now. Little cruise down the Fjord - once you've seen one Fjord you've seen them all. The waterfalls are spectacular, but once you've seen one, you've seen them all....
Well that's the day - road home for beer, wine and a very early night as the riding took it's toll today!!!!
