Day 18 Getting to Rotterdam

After a top stay at the pub in Roden we headed off to the Rotterdam Ferry. We were taking the scenic route back so it wouldn't be a quick ride, although the ferry wasn't leaving until 20:00 pm so we had all day.

Well what a ride - the wind must have been hitting us at circa 80 mph!! It was unbelievable and we were riding at angles even worse than those early in the trip. It was just excellent! Very thrilling, very technical and pretty dangerous; everything we want out of riding a motorbike.

We were soon to cross the Afsluitdilk which is a link road (seen below) and got concerned that we'd been blow about so much, what was this every exposed road going to be like.
As it turned out, the defence against the wind from the sea is exceptional and after all it was a pretty standard straight-line ride. A fantastic piece of engineering and glad we rode over it. Before we did and in preparation, we stopped at a roadside service station. Great little place - old boat engines mounted on the walls, served a lovely cup of tea and we ended up having a great lunch here too! Now - off to the link road; Good-Luck!!!!!!

After a bit of a sat nav fart, sending us to the Hook of Holland terminal (well it could have been the person entering the address that got it wrong!!) We got to the check in and other than messing about  little we were pretty much through, parked, bag unloaded in the rooms and up for a pint very quickly.
Who said (only earlier that morning to a Dutch group admiring the Bagger), that there were very few about - 2 in-font of us at the terminal!!!! WTF, who'd have thought it.
Finished off with a late-night show, which as it turned out, was damn good!!! Singing all the favourites to sing along to - however, ain't going to make it to Broadway
