Day 17 Getting to Groningen
As mentioned on the previous blog, the breakfast was pretty poor, so we went in search of a place to top up our tummies, as we hadn't had a proper meal for at least 8 hours 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
By now, we're as full as full can be, but no-one can turn down the largest bowl of ice-cream ever!!!! The location was in Tellingstedt, Germany. It was extremely posh and the food looked fantastic, but had to settle for ice-cream as I think it was only 10:30am.

Once off the ferry we road for a while and just as we found this little place for a drink, the heavens opened - OMG it was a flash flood and torrential rain!!! Fortunately we got inside just in time. PC had to do a load of work in the café so we were there a while, but hey hum, had to be done and that did allow for the rain to stop.
Anyway, we got to Roden in the Netherlands, found the hotel and really didn't expect much. It looked like a pub with a few rooms, and that's exactly what it was. However, this was a memorable place and we will look back very fondly on our stay here. The staff were amazing - well trained, very friendly, couldn't do enough; the owners were such lovely people and were quite rightly very proud of their place.
It must be said -the food was amazing! We opted to have the chefs' recommendations, so we had no idea what was coming. Pure joy, that's what arrived!
No chance we could fit the dessert in, but we'd already opted for it, so we were hoping for something small - this arrived; phew, not small, but certainly manageable and very delicious.
Hotel Onder De Linden, Roden - What a great place to stay! Rooms were a bit hot though, but least of our worries as we just loved the place completely.
