Day 12 Getting to Hønefoss

OMG that was a long day riding - but wow how brilliant. We went along glass like lakes, we managed more switchbacks and then rode up to nearly 5,000 feet to cross snow covered mountains and a glacier. It did go very cold at one point, but worth freezing for a short while so we could experience the road, which btw another one that had only just opened.
Found a fantastic little village. It was the only place that appeared to be open on a Sunday and the Pizza place was epic!! It would have challenged Steffan's ability to eat the whole thing!!!
The roads just continued and continued and continued - it was endless!!! We did get a bit fatigued and drowsy, so had to pull over a couple of times but all in all - just brilliant! The last hour in particular, when we really didn't notice the speed limit and we hopped around cars etc - that was a bit of playing and fun.
We are just above AJ's mountain hut apparently and he rides his bike up this enormous mountain - mad fool!!!!!
A little rest bite at the top of the mountain - had a lovely cup of coffee in this very posh skiing hotel. Not many people there and it was a bit like the hotel in the Shining!
We eventually found the hotel and what a find!! We're never sure what the hotels are going to be like and this one seemed to be in an industrial estate; It was not in an industrial estate and was, in fact, one of the oldest hotels in Norway. Obviously done up for modern times, but really incredible. The food looked amazing, but as we'd had the worlds' largest pizza we thought our tea could be beer and wine !!!!!
We had a stunning night in the hotel, very much enjoyed the atmospere and the staff were so friendly!!! A great place to stay.
