Day 19 Cyrraedd adref
Hassle getting out of the ferry port, but it was just the shear numbers of people - eventless trip home across the M62 and then shine up the Bagger as it was absolutely minging!
Deffo needs new tyres, but after having a brawl in Germany with Mrs C, she was proved right that the tyres would make it home and we didn't need to change them out there!!!
So, let' try and summarise the holiday; Firstly, it was pretty much incident free. There were a few technical glitches on the bikes - Toby's screen was permanently up and for a couple for days he was getting alert messages about the screen. P&C's bike had SOS inoperable warnings, but this only occurred when it was wet, so we concluded just an electrical glitch - P&C had 1 heat warning going up Dibs-nibbler, but other than this, nothing.
Norway was stunning and the roads were designed for proper bikers to experience. I would urge anyone tempting to ride some of the more adventurous routes, to ensure they have sufficient experience as they are incredibly technical. Also, hope people are not seasick, as the number of ferries we had to take was amazing.
Getting to Norway was a very long way indeed! Mainly have to use motorways to clear the distances and these roads can be a bit monotonous, so maybe shorter distances, more stop-overs and staying off the motorways would be good.
Norway is VERY expensive!!!
Learn the shopping times, especially buying alcohol as these are very strange in Norway
Sweden was lovely, although flat where we were, nonetheless beautiful and the prices of everything were great. More expensive than the UK but generally pretty acceptable.
Don't buy fuel in Denmark!!!!! SO expensive even compared to Norway.
The Scandinavians are certainly the most polite, friendly people you will ever meet. They are genuinely interested in where we were from, how we were finding their countries, where we are visiting ete etc...it was very lovely to interact with all the people from the Scandinavian countries we visited. There was one grumpy ferry worker in Denmark, but guess he was a bit hassled.
We ate lots, we drank in moderation (as we couldn't afford it) we rode 4,000 miles, everything was just fantastic - went too quickly even though we were away for 19 days!!
Looking forward to the next tour -The Pyrenees!!!!!
